News and Notes: 4.11.11

Today marks the beginning of our WASC visit. The visiting committee will be in and out of your classrooms for the next two days as they evaluate our self-study.

In preparation for class on Tuesday, please read the following article on the face veil ban in France. Please also review the French Constitution to see how the veil ban fits in with individual expression in France. Finally, please review the U.S. Constitution as it relates to individual expression. Hint: You're looking in both constitutions for what the government says individuals can and cannot do. Take notes.

To review: you have a Quarter Project this term. Failure to complete this project will result in a failing grade for the quarter. Do not waste time in class. Curious about interim due dates and review sessions for this project? Check out the calendar here. It would be a good idea to make note of the URL. REMEMBER: you have an assignment due today for this project!

Last call for field trip forms:
It's field trip time! Yes, you read that correctly. If you are interested in visiting the offices of VegNews in San Francisco, then this is the trip for you! You don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy the trip. This is about magazine production. We will be taking BART to their offices; tickets will be ordered Monday. The trip is May 18. There are 10 spots for interested students. If you are interested, please take one of the YEARBOOK STAFF permission slips on the black table (check to make sure you have the correct slip) and bring it back ASAP.
