News and Notes: 2.8.11

Wojo is out working on WASC stuff. Our visit is in April.

You have an assignment today. Follow the directions on the paper. Turn it in before you leave. When you are finished, the story should be no longer than 120 words including the lede.

For the remainder of the week, you will be working on proof corrections, faculty and clubs. These need to be done by next week.

New and Notes: 2.7.11

Last Friday, most of you signed up for new spreads! If you didn't, please check out the list on the cabinet ASAP and get your name on one of the spreads.

Spreads that MUST go in by February 17: Title, Theme, Opening, Closing, Faculty, Clubs

If you are NOT working on the spreads above, see if you can help out.

Today: oooooh, a semi-pop quiz just for you! Topic? The Seven Deadly Sins of Student Writing.

News and Notes: 2.4.11

Project: This is an individual assignment. It will be on paper (8 1/2x11 or 11x17). If you have a Glogster account, you may make your poster in Glogster, then print. InDesign is encouraged as your design platform. The assignment: Read "The Seven Deadly Sins of Student Writers." Pick one of the "deadly sins" and make a poster to help students remember not to commit that sin in their writing. The use of humor is encouraged (think a la The Oatmeal, but appropriate for the classroom).  Yes, the instructions are deliberately loose. I want you to be creative in helping your classmates become better writers. Due date: TODAY no later than 1:15 p.m.

For those of you who are working on pages, worknight is optional, but encouraged this Friday!
